President Kiir revokes the appointment of David Yau Yau as a member of SPLA Liberation Council.

President Salva Kiir has revoked the appointment of David Yau Yau  as a member of the SPLA Liberation Council and a Member of Parliament.  

It has also been reported that the former leader of Murle insurrection against South Sudanese government has also been denied membership in Greater Pibor Legislative Council.

The UN Human Rights Council appoints Carlos Castresana of Spain as member of Commission of Human Rights in South Sudan.

The president of the Human Rights council Ambassador  Václav Bálek (Czechia), has appointed Carlos Castresana of Spain as a member of Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan.  The move came after the resignation of Andrew Clapham who had led the commission since its establishment in 2016 by the UN Human Rights Council.

South Sudanese celebrates their 12th anniversary of Independence on Sunday 9th 2023. President Kiir has appealed to all South Sudanese who have been displaced by the recent Civil War to return back home and embrace peace. In his speech titled ' Consolidating Peace and Stability to Pave the Way for Transparent, Fair, and Credible Elections', the president has urged the displaced population to come back home and participate in the upcoming general elections.

The president Of The Republic Of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit will travel to Wau to celebrate his endorsement as the SPLM party candidate to contest in the general elections scheduled to take place in December 2024.

it is been reported that the SPLM Party delegates and Governors from Bahr El Ghazal region are in Wau town to make preparations ahead of the arrival of President Kiir. 

South Sudan was supposed to conduct its first ever general elections in 2015 but it was postponed due to the bloodless conflicts that erupted in 2013. 
 

President Kiir decries arms embargo on South Sudan during visit to South Africa.

President of the Republic  Of South Sudan Salva Kiir told his counterpart  Cyril Ramaphosa that the arms embargo imposed on his country by the UN Security Council is holding back the chances to implement the security arrangement. He reportedly urged his counterpart to persuade the United States to withdraw sanctions on South Sudan.

Kiir was on a three-day visit to Pretoria where he met President Ramaphosa and other senior diplomats to bolster mutual relations between the two countries as well as discussing ways to restore peace in Sudan. 
 

UK government plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda ruled unlawful by Court of Appeal.

The government controversial policy to send asylum seekers to Rwanda has been blocked by Court of Appeal after senior judges reversed the decision that say 'Rwanda is a third safe country'. The policy was introduced by the UK government last spring in an effort to deter Illegal migrants crossing to the UK by small boats.
 

The government has faced fierce criticism from Human Rights campaigners over the policy amid fears about the country's human rights records. 

 

Bank Of South Sudan ( BoSS) announces five-strategic plan to boost economy in the country.

The Bank Of South Sudan ( BoSS ) has unveiled a 5 year strategic plan to help focus on improving the county’s economic stability.

The plan which runs from 2023 to 2027 will ensure smooth financial system recovery and enhancement of exchange rate stability to better support the economic growth in the country and regain trust from investors.

The governor of the Bank Of South Sudan Johnny Ohisa described the purpose of the plan in his own words;

‘ Our economy has been hit by multi- internal shocks that are driving the exchange rate high’. He said.

President Kiir is in South Africa for official visit.

The president of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit has left Juba this morning to South Africa on a visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. 
the meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 28th between Kiir and his counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa with numerous agendas on the table. 
 

The National Cabinet approves $6.5M for National basketball team World Cup debut.

The national cabinet on Friday approved the release of $6.5 millions to help the team prepare for their maiden debut in the FIBA World Cup in Asia later this year. The fund will be released by the Ministry of Finance and Planning after the cabinet approved the request from the Ministry of Youth and Sport. 

Shortly after the weekly Cabinet meeting which is conducted every Friday, Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth told journalists in Juba that he wants the team to come back home with the trophy.
 

Cabinet endorses the approval of $5.4m for the completion of the Construction of the Wildlife and Tourism HQ.

The Council of Ministers on Friday agreed to release more than $5 Millions US dollars for the completion of the Construction of the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism HQ. 
 

Michael Makuei Lueth, the Minister of Information told reporters in Juba that the approval comes after Riziq Zachariah , the Current Minister Of Wildlife and Tourism requested the funds.  The halt in the constructions come after the Ministry run out of money to help pay the workers and the construction companies managing the process.
