South Sudan basketball team emerges as one of the unbeaten in the FIBA basketball qualifiers in Africa. the Brightstar team made history on the 25th Febuary after winning against Senegal and booked a spot in the 2023 World Cup. 

South Sudan basketball team is inspired and led by NBA legend Luol Deng who had played for the top NBA teams in the USA such as Lakers, Miami Heats, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. After retiring from basketball, he decided to return back to his home country South Sudan and focus on inspiring the young generation and also attracting other South Sudanese in diaspora who plays in the NBA teams and others.
