The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit has voiced his support not to extend the current transitional period as the country is likely to go for general elections in 2024.
During the commemoration ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of SPLA day, Kiir told the government officers that he has said many times there won’t be further extension of the transitional period as the current unity government is determined to bring the lasting peace and grant South Sudanese rights to choose their leaders through transparent and credible elections.
