President Salva Kiir , the head of the South Sudan People's Defense Forces ( SSPDF ) has urged on the citizens of the Republic of South Sudan to embrace peace and remember the sacrifices that have been made towards achieving Independence.
 

The SPLA Day is marked on May 16, every year to honor the mutineers who liberated the country from the Arab regime. On the 40th anniversary of commemorating the SPLA day, President Salva Kiir urged the organized forces to display the true spirit and ' Rich doctrine ' in protecting the civilians and their properties. 

" To all our organized forces , I commend you for your dedication to duty and call upon you to draw your inspiration on the rich tradition of the SPLA as you work to protect our citizens and their properties", Kiir said in a speech.

The president has also reiterated his support to implement the revitalized peace agreement and push the country towards the general election which is expected to happen in 2024.
